A few words :
A safari through The White Desert will take you in places such as « The Crystal Mountain », Agabat , and « The Magic Spring». The Old and the New White Desert offer a wonderful and spectacular landscape of white sculptures, formed by the wind, the sand and the erosion, mainly creating shapes of mushroom like. The sunsets and especially the sunrises are just amazingly beautiful…a pure moment of joy for the eyes !
We will stop first at the Oasis of Bahareyya , the nearest oasis from Cairo , at about 375 kilometers of the capital. Bahareyya is a series of several villages surrounded by gardens; the two main oases are Bawiti & El-Qasr .
The oasis has become particularly famous in the last few years as in 1999, the now well-known Golden Mummies, from the roman time, have been discovered. The story says that the hoof of a donkey sank into something that turned out to be a tomb, where a mummy was lying. The tombs could contain more than 10 000 mummies according to the archaeologists!...unfortunately only a few are actually open to the public.
In the Oasis, you will be able to visit « The Oasis Heritage Museum », created by the artist Mahmoud Eed , where he has represented the old life of the locals with sculptures and potteries. You will be able to enjoy the beautiful sunset at the top of The English Mountain , Jebel Maysira , where there are still the ruins of an English observation camp dating from the Second World War.
The iron is very present in the area and you will be able to relax in one of the many hot springs around the oasis.
After a couple of days in the desert, you will appreciate a stop in the Oasis of Farafra , an oasis situated 200 kms south of Bahareyya, for a swim in one of its hot springs . We will also take the time to visit the Museum of Badr , created by the artist Badr, born in the oasis and who shows his paintings and sculptures which often represent every day life scenes of the people living in the oasis.
If you stay with us for 1O days, we will go up to the oasis of Dakhla & Kharga .
Dakhla is an oasis which kept all the charm of its traditional villages such as Bashandi , Balat & El-Qasr with its labyrinths of streets where you will enjoy wandering.
In Kharga , you will be able to visit the old part of the oasis, The Museum of the New Valley & the Temple of Hibis , the Necropole of Bagawat and Douch where the temple is dedicated to Osiris.
Another oasis which kept all the charm of its traditions is Siwa , situated at 300 kms south–west of Marsa-Martrouh. Its craft is just beautiful: weaved baskets, large blue shawls in which the women wrapped themselves to go out, potteries and kilims. To see & visit are, Shali , the old town, The house of Siwa , the Jebel el-Mawta , the Temple of Oracle and the spring of Cleopatra.
From Siwa, we can rejoin Bahareyya, 400 kms on a road where you can see fossils, El-Areg with its beautiful rocky mountains and the immensity of sand: The Great sand Sea.
