  El Fayoum & Rayyan Valley

A few words :

El Fayoum
is only two hours drive from Cairo and has all the aspects of an oasis, but is not!, since it depends on the Nile water and not on underground springs or wells.

Fayoum offers a wide variety of activities ranging from boating, swimming and fishing to visiting antiquities, bird watching and looking at fossils.

His famous lake, Birket Qarun covers about 214 square kilometres and fishing is the main industry on the lake and fishermen can be seen in their small and colourful boats in the early morning and late afternoon.

From El fayoum, we will take you to Wadi Rayyan and its beautiful lake in the National Park for a refreshing swim and to Wadi Hitan, The Whales Valley, an area where the desert is littered with fossils located just behind the Mountain Gabal Gar Gohannam, The Mountain next to Hell.

  The White Desert

A few words :

A safari through The White Desert will take you in places such as «  The Crystal Mountain  », Agabat , and « The Magic Spring». The Old and the New White Desert offer a wonderful and spectacular landscape of white sculptures, formed by the wind, the sand and the erosion, mainly creating shapes of mushroom like. The sunsets and especially the sunrises are just amazingly beautiful…a pure moment of joy for the eyes !

We will stop first at the Oasis of Bahareyya , the nearest oasis from Cairo , at about 375 kilometers of the capital. Bahareyya is a series of several villages surrounded by gardens; the two main oases are Bawiti & El-Qasr .

The oasis has become particularly famous in the last few years as in 1999, the now well-known Golden Mummies, from the roman time, have been discovered. The story says that the hoof of a donkey sank into something that turned out to be a tomb, where a mummy was lying. The tombs could contain more than 10 000 mummies according to the archaeologists!...unfortunately only a few are actually open to the public.

In the Oasis, you will be able to visit «  The Oasis Heritage Museum  », created by the artist Mahmoud Eed , where he has represented the old life of the locals with sculptures and potteries. You will be able to enjoy the beautiful sunset at the top of The English Mountain , Jebel Maysira , where there are still the ruins of an English observation camp dating from the Second World War.

The iron is very present in the area and you will be able to relax in one of the many hot springs around the oasis.

After a couple of days in the desert, you will appreciate a stop in the Oasis of Farafra , an oasis situated 200 kms south of Bahareyya, for a swim in one of its hot springs . We will also take the time to visit the Museum of Badr , created by the artist Badr, born in the oasis and who shows his paintings and sculptures which often represent every day life scenes of the people living in the oasis.

If you stay with us for 1O days, we will go up to the oasis of Dakhla & Kharga .

Dakhla is an oasis which kept all the charm of its traditional villages such as Bashandi , Balat & El-Qasr with its labyrinths of streets where you will enjoy wandering.

In Kharga , you will be able to visit the old part of the oasis, The Museum of the New Valley & the Temple of Hibis , the Necropole of Bagawat and Douch where the temple is dedicated to Osiris.

Another oasis which kept all the charm of its traditions is Siwa , situated at 300 kms south–west of Marsa-Martrouh. Its craft is just beautiful: weaved baskets, large blue shawls in which the women wrapped themselves to go out, potteries and kilims. To see & visit are, Shali , the old town, The house of Siwa , the Jebel el-Mawta , the Temple of Oracle and the spring of Cleopatra.

From Siwa, we can rejoin Bahareyya, 400 kms on a road where you can see fossils, El-Areg with its beautiful rocky mountains and the immensity of sand: The Great sand Sea.

A few words :

The palette of colours of the landscape of Sinai is really breathtaking; never a sunrise or sunset has the same red, yellow and purple…just beautiful…

After crossing the Suez Canal , we will stop at Ayoun Moussa, The Moses spring where Moses would have camped after crossing the Red Sea and would have made appeared a spring.

After one hour walking, you will be able to visit the temple of Sarabit El Khadim , built for the goddess Hathor, guardian of the turquoise mimes.

The Monastery of Saint Catherine and the Moses Mountain are a beauty of serenity.

The monastery is situated at 1570 meters of altitude and has all the aspect of a fortress. It is from the VI century and has been built to protect the community of monks who came to meditate around the Holy Bush.

The climbing of the Moses Mountain, a three hour walk offers at the summit, at 2285 meters, a beautiful sunset or sunrise and an amazing view of the peninsula of Sinai up to the golf of Aqaba.

The Bedouins of Sinai, about 28 tribes in the North, are perfectly integrated in that environment, used to a hard life in contact with Nature.

Their craft is essentially composed of objects used in their everyday life along with kilims which are woven with goat hair and also the beautiful dressed of the women.
